Places to Go,
Things to Do
April
events: Fitness Weekend,
Earth Day and more
Right
off the bat in April, there is the Spirit of St. Louis Marathon's
Family Fitness Weekend. This includes two big adult marathon
events, but there's plenty of fun for kids also.
The fitness weekend
will be Friday, April 2, through Sunday, April 4.
Also in April,
there will be St. Louis Earth Day and lots of activities in
state, county and local parks. The Trailnet's Bicycle Fun
Club has announced its 2004 spring and summer bike rides.
This year, Trailnet has designated several rides as of interest
to kids.
And, it isn't
too early to plan for events in early May. The 25th annual
Storytelling Festival, which will be held May 4-8.
In each edition,
Young Saint Louis.com gives advance notice of Places
to Go, Things to Do around the St. Louis area. We give
special attention to events with interest to kids.
The events:
Spirit
of St. Louis Family Fitness Weekend

St. Louis is playing
host to the 2004 U.S. Olympic Team Trials to pick our country's
women's marathon competitors. That event will be Saturday,
April 3.
That's the same
day the Read, Right, Run marathon program is completed. The
kids get to mingle with the women who will make up the U.S.
women's marathon team.
The local Spirit
of St. Louis Marathon will be run on Sunday, April 4.
That's the same
day that there will be lots of different runs. There are four
kids' runs of varying distances from the Diaper Dash for 2-year-olds
to the half-mile run for kids 7 to 10. That day, there also
will be a half-marathon, a marathon relay and a 5K Run/Walk

paths and others on both sides of the river.
This year, Trailnet
has a whole Kids Ride Series on Sundays with themes of special
interest to kids.
The Kids Ride
Series kicks off with a Lewis & Clark Bicentennial Bicycle
Ride Sunday, May 16, from Hartford, Ill. A second Kids Ride
in May will be the Strawberry Bicycle Ride and Festival on
Sunday, May 23, at St. Jacob, Ill.
