For 4th graders at the New City
School, their classroom study of rivers
and streams turned into something bigger.
Their out-of-class activities put them on
the cover of the most recent Missouri Resources
magazine.

8th grade chess team wins state title
Seven years ago, Sam Kassis founded the
8th grade chess team at Sperreng Middle
School. The team had no coach, just an advisor.
Sam said they did "horribly" in state competition.

Both his parents play in the St. Louis Symphony
Orchestra and two older sisters are studying
music in college.
