January puzzle answers

Quite a few MM winners in January

There weren't quite as many Math Mania winners in January as there were in December. But, you made a very respectable showing for this first try at Sudoku puzzles.

Fourteen of the January Math Mania entrants got all of the Sudoku puzzles correct.

The number of January winners probably would have been higher. But, a large number of entries were postmarked after the January 15 deadline. We want all of your entries to count but those postmarked after the deadline can't be judged.

Because there were more than three entrants who got all of the puzzles correct, Young Saint Louis.com made a random drawing before awarding the three $10 Borders gift certificates.

Winners of the certificates who were picked at random were:

Jane Webster of St. Louis, Jenny Burghoff of St. Louis and Emma Rivard of Clayton.

For February, Ms. Math Mania, Amy Ruzicka of St. Gabriel's School, has developed puzzles that look like Sudoku but are different. In fact, to get the right answers, you need to do a variety of math figuring. To enter the February contest, click here.

Congratulations to all who got all those who got the January puzzles correct.
