Math Mania calls for manipulating numbers

The Math Mania puzzles for March call for you to manipulate 3-, 4- and 5-digit numbers. There are three puzzles for each of the multiple-digit numbers.

Every month, Ms. Math Mania, teacher Amy Ruzicka, looks for puzzles that help you find different ways to use numbers to solve problems. She wants you to become comfortable with numbers and also have some fun.

The more you experiment with numbers, the easier it will be when you look for solutions to math problems in your classes.

And with Young Saint Louis.com's puzzles, there are no grades and you get a chance to win a Borders book certificate.

YSL.com takes entries that have all correct answers and randomly draws names of kids who will get $10 certificates.

The Math Mania competition is open to kids 8 to 13 around the metro St. Louis area. An entry blank and questions for March are listed below.

To enter the March contest, fill out the attached entry form and give answers to the questions. Be sure to follow instructions when completing the entry form.

In the April edition of YSL.com, we'll publish the answers to these March puzzles and name any winners.
