Your Turn

May 2005 Vol. 6 Issue 5

What is Young Saint Louis.com?

If you are a first time visitor, you might have questions about what sort of website Young Saint Louis.com is.

This website is designed to be a local, monthly newsmagazine for kids 8 to 13 in the St. Louis metro area. There are over 250,000 of you in this area.

Most of the other local media are broad-based. They aren't targeted to kids. But, you are our only audience.

Most of the stories, features and information are for and about kids. We might include stories about adults BUT only if the subjects will interest young kids.

Most of the stories include links to other Internet sites to give you more information.

But, there's more to YSL.com than news stories.

Every month, we feature reviews of four popular kids books (See Books). We also tell you about things coming up that will be fun and interesting for you and your families to attend (See Places to Go, Things to Do).

We also tell you about some interesting things that have happened in St. Louis and Missouri's past (See This Month in St. Louis History).

We also have crossword puzzles and even corny jokes especially for kids (See Fun & Games).

We also archive all past issues so you can look up something you might have missed. The archives are sorted by month and year but also have a special Google search engine so you can look by name and subject (See Past Stories).

We're also an associate of Amazon.com. If you see a book you'd like, you can click right over to Amazon.com and buy on-line. (Well, actually, your parents probably will have to buy since most of you don't have credit cards.)

There is a separate layer of the website for adults (See For Adults). That's there because YSL.com also can be used to improve reading proficiency.

But, mostly, Young Saint Louis.com is for kids who want to know more about their community and world. And it's written especially for you.

Enjoy it every month. And, if you want to suggest improvements, use the Your Turn tab to contact us.
