turns the focus of this edition to both outdoor activities
and summer reading programs. In fact, there's hardly anything
that can be more fun that picking a good book and doing your
reading in the shade during warm spring or summer day or evening.

City Library and its branches.

club programs for elementary, middle
and high school kids will run from June
1 through July 31 at the St. Louis County
Library headquarters and all of the
branches.

is one of 15 kids across the country who will
appear on a Jeopardy! Kids' Week broadcast this
summer.

team New
City School's chess club has very good year
One of every five students at St. Louis' New
City School takes part in its after-school chess
program. And the school's 6th and under team
is offering proof that the club is having a
very good year.

Reviews This
month's book reviews
Books reviewed for March include (1) a boy,
proud of his skills as a thief, gets involved
in kingdom changing, (2) a ten-year-old girl
loses her hair to disease and comes to hate
school, (3) a kids' novel based on the script
from a popular Disney movie, and (4) a "colored"
girl from North Carolina is moved to Harlem
in the 1920's.

Day Didn't
win regionals, but on to nationals Thirteen-year-old
Matt Vallorani's History Day entry didn't even
get judged in the recent Region 5 competition.
But, he's going to the nationals after winning
a first in the junior website division in the
Missouri state contest.

see how pros handle "Hamlet" roles Kids at Bryan
Hill Elementary School get an unusual opportunity
this month. They'll be able to check out how
professional actors handle roles they filled
last December in their school production of
Shakespeare's "Hamlet."

County Girl Scouts last month went after school
to the Chesterfield Mall. But, they weren't
going to just hangout or shop.

summer season. The historic St. Louis Carousel
is back in business, after a complete overhaul.
