Places to go, things to do

A miniature metal dollhouse

Miniature show opens at History Museum

The "Our World in Miniature: Trains, Dollhouses and Other Miniatures" opens on Sunday, Oct. 6. It will be held at the Missouri History Museum in Forest Park.

This is a big collection of authentic miniatures of all types.

There are trains, train stations, buildings, dollhouses, furniture and other toys. All are scaled down to fit into living rooms, bedrooms, back yards and sand boxes.

The exhibit shows how miniatures started as a way of preparing kids for their roles in the adult world. But, the field now is one which both kids and adults use primarily as hobbies.

For full details, go to the museum website at www.mohistory.org. On the homepage, click on Exhibitions on either the right hand side or the bottom of the page. Then, click on Upcoming Exhibitions on the left side of that page.

Also, be sure to check out other outstanding exhibitions at the Museum.

You also can call for information at (314) 454-3150.
